2007 Charlie May Simon and Diamond Book Award Winners
The Arkansas Department of Education, the Arkansas State Library, and the Arkansas Reading Association are pleased to announce the results of the voting for the 2007 Charlie May Simon Children’s Book Award and the 2007 Arkansas Diamond Primary Book Award. More than 59,000 ballots have been cast and the results have been tabulated. The choice of the voting students is as follows:
CHARLIE MAY SIMON CHILDREN’S BOOK AWARD
THE REPORT CARD by Andrew Clements is the winner of the 2006-2007 Charlie May Simon Children’s Book Award. It is published by Simon & Schuster.
WORTH by A. LaFaye is the Honor Book for 2006-2007. It is published by Simon & Schuster.
ARKANSAS DIAMOND PRIMARY BOOK AWARD
APRIL FOOLISHNESS by Teresa Bateman and illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott is the winner of the 2006-2007 Arkansas Diamond Primary Book Award. It is published by Albert Whitman.
I WANNA IGUANA by Karen Kaufman Orloff and illustrated by David Catrow is the Honor Book for 2006-2007. It is published by Putnam/Penguin.
Both awards are under the sponsorship of the Arkansas Department of Education, the Arkansas State Library, and the Arkansas Reading Association, with support from other cooperating organizations.
