The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) will broadcast an interactive videoconference workshop on Economics and the newly revised Social Studies Framework on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. This workshop is a collaborative effort between the ADE and the Arkansas Council on Economic Education. This highly interactive workshop will provide new and innovative ways to meet the K-8 economic requirements of the revised Arkansas Social Studies Framework. Award-winning economic educators will demonstrate hands-on activities for use in the K-8 classroom. Participants will learn about a variety of resources, lessons, and activities available to teachers for use in the instruction of economics. In addition, participants will create lessons and activities for use in the classroom. The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will end by 4:00 p.m. Participants will receive a lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Social Studies Framework may be accessed at http://arkansased.org/teachers/frameworks2.html#Social.
