The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is pleased to announce a professional development opportunity for teachers. The U.S. Department of Education's Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative has opened registration for its free summer workshops. The workshops will be held across the country starting May 31, 2007, and will target specific grade levels and content areas.
Teacher Workshops offer classroom teachers a free opportunity to participate in high-quality professional development designed to provide the classroom support, technical assistance, and increased collaboration needed to assure academic success for all students. Participants will share instructional strategies with prominent teachers from around the country in each content area and for each grade level. Dates and locations for the workshops are included in the attachment to this memo.
The Teacher-to-Teacher workshops are approved by the ADE. However, in order for this opportunity to count toward the minimum 60 hours of professional development required for K-12 educators in the state of Arkansas, participants will need to obtain prior approval from the school district, principal or supervisor. The awarding of professional development credit is solely at the discretion of the local school district.
