The Office of Special Education Programs in the U. S. Department of Education requires that states report annually to the public on the performance of each local education agency (LEA) serving children with disabilities (CWD) as compared with targets established by the State for Indicators set out in the six-year State Performance Plan (SPP). In an effort to improve LEA performance on the Indicators as reported in the Special Education LEA Annual Performance Report, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Data & Research Office at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), in conjunction with the (ADE) Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education Unit and the UALR College of Education, invites special education LEA supervisors and early childhood coordinators to attend a Special Education Data Summit.
On June 25-26, 2007, the Special Education Data Summit will be held at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
The goals are to:
- Build and enhance local level understanding of the Annual Performance Report Indicators;
- Build and enhance local level understanding of data management; and,
- Identify technical assistance needs surrounding data collection and submission.
It is highly recommended that a representative from each school district, open enrollment charter school, and early childhood special education program attend the Summit.
Space is limited and there will be no on-site registration. Registration and payment must be post-marked by June 11, 2007.
The Data Summit will not cover entering data into Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) or MySped Resource. For help with these areas, contact the IDEA Data and Research Office at 501-683-7219.
