According to the distance learning Rules adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) on July 11, 2005, all distance-learning courses must be approved prior to the courses being offered to, or taught by, a public school district or charter school. The upcoming round of approvals are for those K-12 courses that will be offered during the 2007 – 2008 academic year or during the 2007 summer session.
The deadline to submit the Course Approval Forms is Monday, June 25, 2007. K-12 providers may access and print the Course Approval Form at the ADE Distance Learning Center’s website: http://dlc.k12.ar.us/pdf/Course_Approval/K-12_Course_Approval_Form_2007.pdf.
K-12 providers must submit, to the Distance Learning Coordinator, THE APPROPRIATE FORM AND ADE COURSE APPROVAL, IF APPLICABLE, for each course that will be offered to schools using any distance learning technology.
Review of submitted applications will begin on Thursday, June 28, 2007. Notifications regarding the courses approved will be e-mailed or faxed to the Distance Learning Coordinator at the educational service cooperatives and to the course provider.
Schools receiving CONCURRENT CREDIT classes via distance learning must submit the Concurrent Credit Documentation Form located at http://dlc.k12.ar.us/pdf/Course_Approval/Concurrent_Credit_Documentation_Form_2007.pdf. There is not a deadline for high schools receiving concurrent credit classes, but schools receiving concurrent credit classes are asked to submit the above form as soon as possible.
