Act 552 of the 86th General Assembly made two changes to Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-206 (the Arkansas Public School Choice Act of 1989): (1) Allowing a student who accepts a school choice transfer to return to his or her resident district during the course of a school year; and (2) modifying one of the transfer exemptions. The revisions proposed in the rules incorporate the changes to the statute made by Act 552 in Sections 5.04, 5.04.1 and 8.01.2 of the Rules Governing the Guidelines, Procedures and Enforcement of the Arkansas Public School Choice Act.
A public hearing will be held on the proposed changes to the rule on August 16, 2007 at 9:30 am in the Auditorium of the Arch Ford Education Bldg., #4 Capitol Mall, Little Rock, AR 72201. Written comments should be mailed to the Office of Legal Counsel, Arkansas Department of Education, #4 Capitol Mall, Room 404-A, Little Rock, AR 72201 by August 17, 2007.
