Ark. Code Ann. §§ 6-15-1701 through 6-15-1704 mandates all schools to create a Parental Involvement Plan. The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and Arkansas Parenting Education Network (APEN) will sponsor the 9th Annual Arkansas Conference for Parent Education & Parental Involvement: “Charting the Course”. The three-day statewide conference will be held October 8-10, 2007, at the Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Boulevard, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901.
All school parent involvement facilitators, parent center coordinators, and administrators are encouraged to attend. Concurrent sessions will be scheduled throughout the conference. Participants may select sessions focusing on transitions from Preschool to Kindergarten, Dyslexia, Family Fun Nights with An Academic Focus, Student-led Conferences, After School Programs in Arkansas, No Child Left Behind-Helping Parents Understand Supplemental Education Services (SES), and many more. Advanced registration is required. A check or purchase order must accompany all registration forms submitted. Registration is limited to the first 750 participants. The deadline for registration is September 19, 2007. Please mail registration and payment information to the following:
