The State Board of Education in the regular meeting on September 10, 2007, gave final approval to the Rules Governing the Distribution of Student Special Needs Funding and the Determination of Allowable Expenditures of Those Funds. The rule, however, must still be reviewed by the Legislature before it is considered final. That review will probably not take place until October. Since districts are preparing budgets and Arkansas Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (ACSIP), the Department wanted to provide this latest information on categorical funding.
