The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is announcing the Building Communities Just for the Kids Town-Hall Meetings. These meetings will be scheduled for November 13, 2007, in local communities statewide. Building Communities is a town-hall style meeting organized by Just for the Kids (JFTK) Arkansas. Parents, educators, and community members meet to review local school data and discuss how to work together to help the schools address areas that need improvement. In 2006, more than 50 communities across the state participated. Building Communities is a simple and easy way to be involved in a statewide initiative to elevate the discussion about student achievement.
The Building Communities meetings will review recent school data in an effort to support the mandated local school board’s public meeting addressing the annual report. JFTK has agreed to help schools publicize the public meeting.
