Title III of No Child Left Behind requires the annual assessment of limited English proficient (LEP) students’ progress in the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English and in the acquisition of academic language in English language arts and mathematics. English language proficiency assessment test scores are reported each year to the United States Department of Education (USDOE).
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) will conduct a videoconference on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, for Title III coordinators, English as a Second Language (ESL) program coordinators, and test administration personnel to train for the spring 2008 administration of English Language Development Assessment (ELDA). The videoconference will be conducted from 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. and will cover test administration for grades K-12.
Attendees should register for this videoconference no later than Friday, February 22, 2008, by completing the online registration form: http://arkansased.org/reg/civ_elda.htm. After submitting the registration information to the ADE, participants are also asked to register for the videoconference through the appropriate educational cooperative or school district.
