The Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) oversees several Teacher Education Loan/Grant programs in the state. One is the Teacher Opportunity Program (TOP). The TOP Dual Certification Incentive (also known as TOP Dual Licensure Loan) is the main component of ONE of the teacher/educator programs.
ADHE wants to be sure school administrators are also aware of the second component of the Teacher Opportunity Program - the TOP Reimbursement Grant. Since school districts aren't required to participate in TOP Dual Licensure Loan, and, if funds are available, teachers may apply for the reimbursement grant. Currently, there are funds available.
TOP offers tuition reimbursement grants to current teachers unable to participate in TOP Dual Licensure Loan. Teachers may apply for reimbursement for a maximum of six (6) credit hours per year for college credit courses related to employment. Interested applicants should apply NOW on-line for spring 2008. Teachers should submit by mail an official transcript and itemized receipt. Applications are currently being accepted through March 1, 2008. Go to www.adhe.edu for the online application and other information on this program. (Just click on the financial aid links and then scroll down to the TOPS program.)
