On December 13, 2007, the Department issued Commissioner’s Memo COM-08-068 on this same subject indicating that no school districts would be placed on the 2008 Consolidation List, but that the Department may wish to review information submitted to it in greater detail.
Upon further review and analysis of data submitted, the Department has determined that the Cushman School District’s three quarter Average Daily Membership (ADM) was below three hundred and fifty (350) students for the 2006-2007 school year and is projected to be below 350 students for the current 2007-2008 school year. Pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. §§ 6-13-1602 and 6-13-1603, the Cushman School District will be scheduled to appear on the 2009 Consolidation List and will be subject to administrative annexation to or administrative consolidation with one (1) or more school districts no later than May 1, 2009, (to be effective on July 1, 2009).
The Department is continuing to monitor and further examine school districts’ attendance records, and will notify any affected school districts of any changes in status for administrative annexation or consolidation and other purposes.
Districts are urged to ensure that the district is in compliance with all attendance and reporting laws, including but not limited to Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-213.
