The Arkansas State Board of Education and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) are considering implementing new Rules Governing Criminal Background Checks for Substitute Teachers and revisions to the Rules Governing the Requirement of a Criminal Background Check for the Employment of Personnel in School Districts.

A public hearing will be held on both rules beginning at 10:00 a.m. on March 12, 2008, in the ADE Auditorium at #4 Capitol Mall, Little Rock, Arkansas. Written comments should be mailed to Tripp Walter, Attorney’s Office, #4 Capitol Mall, Room 404-A, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 by March 26, 2008.

Copies of the proposed revisions may be obtained at the Arkansas Department of Education, Attorney’s Office, or by accessing the Department’s website at http://arkansased.org.
