The Easter Seals Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center, in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), is offering professional development on the topic of hands-on science and math activities appropriate for students with disabilities from preschool to high school grade levels. Teachers and therapists will learn a variety of fun, hands-on science and math activities that have been adapted for children of all ability levels. Participants will be given materials to perform experiments and learn how to adapt the activities for individuals with disabilities. The experiments will be linked to the science and math Arkansas State Frameworks. Attendees will learn about microscopes that connect to computers and computer software that will enhance science and math programming. Participants will be given a detailed set of materials with over 30 experiments included, as well as Boardmaker language boards for experiments performed in the workshop.
Cost of the workshop is $100.00. This workshop is scheduled from 9:00-3:00 on April 23, 2008, and again on April 30, 2008. It will be held at Easter Seals Arkansas, 3920 Woodland Heights Road, Little Rock, Arkansas.
