The 9th Annual Alternative Learning Education Conference, sponsored by the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators (AAAE), the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), and the Pygmalion Commission, will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center on July 20, 21 and 22, 2008. This conference is held every year and has grown to be one of the largest Alternative Education Conferences in the nation.
This year’s conference will feature national presenters with topics including: proven intervention programs, drop out prevention, administrative issues, trends, statistics, research support, and national collaborations for educators working with at risk youth. Franklin Schargel, a nationally known speaker and author of many books on alternative education and dropout prevention will be one of the keynote presenters. Dr. Harold Coles and Mark Fernandez of the National Alternative Educators Association; Dr. Kenneth James, Commissioner of Education; Lori Lamb, Alternative Learning Education Supervisor; Jacque Reese, AAAE President; Pygmalion Commissioners, and other dignitaries will be present.
