Commissioner’s Memo COM-08-077 informed school districts that funds for programs involving preparation for tests other than the ACT could be used for the Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, as well as or instead of, PLAN and EXPLORE programs or PSAT.
Districts must decide if the PLAN or PSAT will be voluntarily administered to grade 10 students. Additionally, districts may choose to voluntarily administer EXPLORE to grade 8 students.
School districts are asked to complete the attached survey by April 15, 2008, to indicate which exams will be administered.
