The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Closing the Achievement Gap initiative is an effective model to plan and evaluate Response to Intervention (RtI) Tier I and II interventions. This hands-on, computer lab training pairs a computer application, PixWriter, and collaboration between general and special education staff to target written language, vocabulary and fluency to improve Tier I and Tier II interventions and promote improved literacy outcomes. The Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education Unit (SEU) and the Technology and Curriculum Outcome Center, Easter Seals Arkansas will present six, three-hour sessions at Easter Seals Arkansas, 3920 Woodland Heights Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72212 on May 13, 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.; and June 10, 2008, and August 5, 2008, at the same times. Cost is $50 per participant. Each of the six sessions will be limited to 15 participants. This workshop is recommended for Kindergarten through Grade 3 Teachers, P-4 Special Educators, Reading Specialists, Title I Reading Support Staff, Reading Recovery Teachers and Speech-Language Pathologists.
