2008 Charlie May Simon and Diamond Book Award Winners
The Arkansas Department of Education, the Arkansas State Library, and the Arkansas Reading Association are pleased to announce the results of the voting for the 2008 Charlie May Simon Children’s Book Award and the 2008 Arkansas Diamond Primary Book Award. More than 52,000 ballots have been cast and the results have been tabulated. The choice of the voting students is as follows:
CHARLIE MAY SIMON CHILDREN’S BOOK AWARD
A DOG’S LIFE: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A STRAY by Ann M. Martin is the winner of the 2007-2008 Charlie May Simon Children’s Book Award. It is published by Scholastic, Inc.
LUNCH MONEY by Andrew Clements is the Honor Book for 2007-2008. It is published by Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing.
ARKANSAS DIAMOND PRIMARY BOOK AWARD
HENRY & THE BUCCANEER BUNNIES by Carolyn Crimi and illustrated by John Manders is the winner of the 2007-2008 Arkansas Diamond Primary Book Award. It is published by Candlewick Press.
MUDBALL by Matt Tavares is the Honor Book for 2007-2008. It is published by Candlewick Press.
Both awards are under the sponsorship of the Arkansas Department of Education, the Arkansas State Library, and the Arkansas Reading Association, with support from other cooperating organizations.
