DIRECTORS’ CONFERENCE
Child Nutrition Directors should mark August 5 and 6, 2008, on the calendar and register for the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Child Nutrition Unit (CNU) CN Directors’ Conference. The Conference will be held at the Wyndham Riverfront, 2 Riverfront Place, North Little Rock. Hotel information is given below, and a registration form is attached. Registration for the Directors’ Conference will begin at 8:00am in Foyer A near the Silver City Meeting Rooms. A continental breakfast will be provided during registration. The Conference will begin at 9:00am in the Silver City Meeting Rooms.
Program content will include Revised Free and Reduced Price Eligibility Guidance, Pre School / ABC Programs, Revised Child Nutrition Administrative Guidance and a presentation by a representative of the Office of Inspector General for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
NEW DIRECTORS’ ORIENTATION
The New Directors’ Orientation will be held on August 7, 2008, from 9:00am to 4:00pm. This training is for first-year directors, superintendents and independent managers.
The ADE Child Nutrition Unit will provide training and orientation for the Agreement and Policy Statement, collection procedures, meal patterns for menus, record keeping requirements, procurement, children with special needs, parent/student involvement and available resources.
Registration for New Directors’ Orientation will begin at 8:30am. The orientation packet will be available at the table located in the Arkansas Travelers meeting room. A continental breakfast will be provided.

A confirmation of registration for each participant registered will be mailed to the school district address as provided on the registration form. It is the district’s responsibility to notify each participant that the registration has been confirmed.
Wyndham Riverfront Hotel accommodations must be made BY JULY 16, 2008. To reserve rooms at special rates, call Wyndham Hotel reservations toll free at 1-866-657-4458 or call the hotel directly at 501-371-9000. Be sure to request the ADE Child Nutrition rates of $82.00 per night for a single room. Add $10.00 for each additional person sharing a room. Hotel policy does not allow more than four persons to a room. There will be an additional $15.00 per day charge if a rollaway bed is requested. The above rates will not be applicable after July 16, 2008. Reservations should be made as soon as participants are approved to attend the meetings.
