At the State Board of Education meeting on May 12, 2008, several districts were granted waivers for missed days due to the severe weather events this spring. This has prompted questions about how those missed days should be reported in cycle submissions through Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN).

Any day missed due to severe weather events should be coded as a non-attendance day. The number of attendance days should be reported as usual. If the total attendance days for the quarter is less than 35, a Phase 2 edit will appear during the cycle submission process. A Phase 2 edit is simply a warning. If the information that generated the Phase 2 edit is correct, no action is required. Phase 2 edits do not prevent a district from submitting the cycle report.

The Standards Assurance Unit will maintain a record of all waivers granted by the State Board of Education and will appropriately handle any accreditation report flags pertaining to the required number of days.
