The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act requires all schools to be accountable for student performance. The Arkansas NCLB Accountability Workbook, critical element 1.1 addresses this requirement. It includes a process for schools with no grade(s) administering the 3-8 grade level benchmarks, the end-of-course Algebra or Geometry or the grade 11 literacy assessments. Schools that do not administer at least one of the assessments shall be linked to one school administering the assessments. The feeder school should be paired with the school with a tested grade where the majority of the feeder school’s students attend. In cases when the school with a tested grade does not meet the accountability requirements, then the feeder school(s) paired with that school will take on the same designation as the school having the tested grade(s). The feeder school will also implement all sanctions associated with the designation.
Districts are asked to complete the attached feeder school form and submit to the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) no later than June 20, 2008. Districts without feeder schools are also asked to submit the form by checking the appropriate box indicating that the district does not have a feeder school pattern.
