The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit and the Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC), Easter Seals Arkansas announce a collaborative professional development opportunity June 30, July 18, July 21, July 30, and August 4, 2008, available at three different times (9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.; and 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.).
This workshop is titled Autism: Visual Strategies and Computer-Instruction. This interactive web training uses the Web Visual conferencing system to present current, evidence-based information about autism spectrum disorders, visual strategies and computer-assisted instructional systems that can address organization, communication, social skills, and academics in educational settings K-12. More than one person can attend at a site, but material downloads are the responsibility of the computer site. Professional Development certificates will only be issued to sites that supply a sign-in sheet and return workshop evaluations. Each session is limited to 15 computer sites (one e-mail address per site).
This workshop is intended for administrators, general and special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and paraprofessionals. There is a $25 registration fee. Registration and payment must be received at least two weeks prior to the date of the selected training. No refunds will be issued.
