The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit and the Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC), Easter Seals Arkansas announce a Web-based professional development opportunity called Computer-Assisted Instruction for Reading, Writing and Math: AR Alternate Assessment. Dates for the Web training will be September 3, 2008, September 10, 2008, September 24, 2008 and October 8, 2008. The Web training begins at 2:30 and ends at 4:00 p.m.
This interactive Web training uses the Web Visual conferencing system to examine tools and strategies using computer-assisted instruction to address the demands of the Arkansas Alternate Portfolio. Professional Development certificates will only be issued to sites that supply a sign-in sheet and return workshop evaluations. Each session is limited to 15 computer sites (one e-mail address per site). More than one person can attend at a site, but material downloads are the responsibility of the computer site.
This workshop is intended for administrators, special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, paraprofessionals and other staff participating in the Arkansas Alternate Portfolio process for Grades 3-8 and 11 for eligible students with significant cognitive impairment. There is a $25 registration fee. Registration and payment must be received at least two weeks prior to the date of the selected training. No refunds will be issued.
