The Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin, in partnership with Achieve, Inc., has created a Web site with many free resources for mathematics teachers. This site includes Elementary Mathematics Benchmarks (K-6), Secondary Mathematics Benchmarks (7-12), Secondary Model Courses, Secondary Assessments and Tasks, and Supporting Resources. Correlation information also links each benchmark to a specific instructional task or location in a model course. The valuable resources may be accessed at http://www.utdanacenter.org/k12mathbenchmarks/alg2eoc/index.php.
Also, Algebra II teachers may find valuable information related to the American Diploma Project Algebra II exam through the Achieve, Inc. Web site. At this site, teachers will find the Algebra II Assessment Standards, as well as released items. This information can be accessed at http://www.achieve.org.
Although the above sources provide a wealth of information and resources for mathematics teachers, it is important to note that the mathematics benchmarks and assessment standards found at the sites should not take the place of the State-mandated mathematics curriculum frameworks. Each public school teacher in the state of Arkansas is responsible for teaching the State framework. The information from the sources should be used to supplement and aid in the teaching of the frameworks.
