Celebrating 20 years of advocacy for Middle Level Education, the Arkansas Association of Middle Level Education (AAMLE) is partnering with Arkansas Association of Middle Level Administrators (AAMLA) and Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) to present a special focus conference, “Interventions Through Teaming”, for all Arkansas middle level educators. The Conference is scheduled for October 20-21, 2008, at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs.
The presenters will focus on interventions for student academic growth, as well as interventions for professional learning. The conference will feature a mix of both nationally recognized speakers and practitioners from exemplary middle schools across Arkansas. Keynote speakers for this event are Kathy Hunt-Ullock and Mark McLeod. National Middle School Association President Theresa Hinkle and President-Elect Janet Vernon will also make presentations.
Work by Shannon Wright and Diamond Schools to Watch winners will be showcased in break out sessions. These sessions will share insights into educating the whole child by using interventions through teaming and offering practical ideas designed to energize and motivate both teachers and administrators. Participants will learn about research-based practices proven to create middle level learning environments that ensure academic rigor with age appropriate instructional strategies.
