The Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc., a national non-profit organization dedicated to the advocacy of high quality mathematics for African-American students, is pleased to announce its first national conference. The 2008 Conference on the Mathematics Teaching, Learning, and Research of African-American Students will be held November 13-14, 2008, at the Little Rock Hilton Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas. This conference will serve as a national forum, bringing together teachers, researchers, and mathematicians from across the United States, to share expertise in the research, theory, and practice that supports mathematics excellence in African-American students.
Mathematics educators who serve African-American students are encouraged to attend. Conference coordinators are also accepting speaking proposals as well as sponsors.
