The Easter Seals Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC), in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), will be offering professional development on topics on assistive technology hardware and software for the blind and visually impaired during the fall semester of the 2008-2009 school year. The workshops are intended for special education teachers, vision teachers, related services providers, paraprofessionals, and administrators. All workshops are designed to address student performance in classroom and assessment situations by providing attendees with adaptive strategies and tools to further accommodate students with visual impairments. Topics for Fall 2008 include: “The Mountbatten Made Easy,” “System Access: Allowing Computers To Talk For Free,” and “Braille: It’s A Blast.” The format for each workshop is hands-on application based, cooperative learning, and demonstration. Seating is limited. There is a $50 per person fee for the half-day trainings and a $75 per person fee for the full day trainings. All workshops will be conducted at the Outpatient Building, Easter Seals Arkansas, 3920 Woodland Heights Road, Little Rock, AR 72212.
