The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Office of Coordinated School Health is offering a “Healthy School Board Diamond Award.” The Healthy School Board Diamond Award is a way to recognize Arkansas schools with policies and educational programs in place that promote an environment that creates healthy students and healthy learners.
Applications should be submitted by the district school board and requires a team effort with administration and school staff. The deadline for submitting the application is February 15, 2009. Applying for this award will be an opportunity for the district to receive recognition for the commitment it has made in addressing the health needs of students and staff. The application will also serve as a valuable assessment tool to evaluate policies and standards in place and to see where modifications need to be made.
