The Easter Seals Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center, in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education, will be offering workshops on the topic of Parental Involvement: Helping Parents Navigate the Assistive Technology Maze. This workshop will be offered at the Easter Seals Arkansas Technology lab on the following dates:
May 20, 2009 from 9:00 AM -12:00 Noon
June 11, 2009 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
June 9, 2009, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
June 16, 2009 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Cost of the workshop is $50 per participant.
This workshop is intended for special education teachers, related services providers, paraprofessionals and administrators. The workshop is designed to assist education staff team with parents to evaluate student’s assistive technology needs, find and identify assistive technology and implement its use. Participants will be given the opportunity to navigate to several evaluation tools on the internet, become familiar with many common types of assistive technology and have hands-on time with sites that educate and familiarize parents with issues concerning technology. Certificates for parental involvement training will be given at the end of the workshop.
