Staff of the Easter Seals Outreach Program, in association with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit, will present a spring workshop for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP)titled, “Two Reviews for SLPs: Revised Regs and RtI.” The first half of this workshop will provide a review of the Arkansas Department of Education’s Special Education Rules and Regulations, from referral to dismissal, pertaining to the provision of speech-language pathology services in the schools. Content will emphasize eligibility criteria for Speech Language Impairment (ages 5-21), due process, program standards and relevant program guidelines.
The second half of the workshop will address the speech-language pathologist’s role within the Response to Intervention (RtI) approach to academic assistance. Content will include Arkansas’ recommended model framework for RtI, potential responsibilities at each level, interventions and resources to consider, budgeting (time and monies), and the benefits and challenges of Response to Intervention.
All sessions will be conducted from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. See the attached Schedule of Workshops for the dates of availability.
Six (6.0) Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours will be available.
There will be a $100.00 per person registration fee payable to the Easter Seals Outreach Program prior to attendance. A minimum of 15 participants per site is required for each workshop. Please complete and submit one of the attached “Two Reviews” forms.
