The Arkansas Department of Education announces a two-day videoconference training for secondary mathematics teachers. The dates for this training are March 16, 2009, and May 18, 2009. Each training will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Districts are encouraged to send mathematics teachers interested in learning more about the American Diploma Project (ADP) Algebra II assessment, as well as available resources for teachers of mathematics.
The first day of training will focus on differences between the Algebra I End-of-Course Exam and the ADP Algebra II End-of-Course Exam. The discussion will center around scoring decisions and the use of technology on each exam. The second day of training will focus on instructional techniques and available resources for teachers of Algebra II. Worthwhile activities and projects that can be used in an Algebra II classroom will also be discussed.
This is a two-day training; teachers should plan to attend both days. Please submit a registration form for each person attending the videoconference by going to http://ArkansasEd.org/reg/algebra.htm. Registration forms must be submitted via the Web site no later than March 9, 2009.
