The Office of Special Education Programs in the U. S. Department of Education (USDOE) requires that states report annually to the public on the performance of each local education agency (LEA) serving children with disabilities (CWD) as compared with targets established by the State for Indicators set out in the six-year State Performance Plan (SPP). In an effort to improve LEA performance on the Indicators, as reported in the Special Education Local Annual Performance Report, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Data & Research Office at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit, and the UALR College of Education, invites special education supervisors, early childhood coordinators, DDS 3-5 directors and service coordinators, and other relevant professionals to attend the 2009 Special Education Data Summit.

The Data Summit will offer a preconference session the evening of July 29, 2009. The main conference will be July 30 and 31, 2009, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock, Arkansas.

The goals of the summit are to:

- Provide information and tools that improve the quality of data
- Encourage collaboration among various stakeholders
- Motivate and inspire special education professionals to maintain the highest standards in special education administration and programming

It is highly recommended that a representative from each school district, open enrollment charter school, and early childhood (3-5) special education program attend the Data Summit.

Each participant must submit a registration form. Please print the attached Data Summit brochure and Registration form. Mail the registration form with payment to the address indicated in the brochure. The registration fee per person includes a continental breakfast and lunch on both days of the main conference.

Early Registration (post-marked by May 1, 2009) $95.00
Late Registration (post-marked by June 1, 2009) $110.00

There will be no on-site registration.

For more information go to the IDEA Data & Research homepage on the Special Education Web site: http://arksped.k12.ar.us/sections/dataandresearch.html.
