Commissioner’s Memo COM-08-077 informed school districts that funds for programs involving preparation for test other than the ACT could be used for the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, as well as or instead of PLAN.
Districts must decide if the PLAN or PSAT will be voluntarily administered to grade 10 students. Once a district decides to administer PLAN or PSAT, all eligible students must participate in the assessment. Additionally, districts may choose to voluntarily administer EXPLORE to grade 8 students.
School districts are asked to complete the attached survey by April 29, 2009, to indicate which exams will be administered.
