The Easter Seals Arkansas Technology and Curriculum Access Center (TCC), in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), will offer workshops on the topic of instructional resources for high school special education science curriculum and the 10th grade alternate portfolio assessment. This workshop will be offered at the following locations on the following dates:

May 13, 2009 - Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, LR (40)
July 8, 2009 - Easter Seals of Arkansas, LR (30)
August 5, 2009 - Easter Seals of Arkansas, LR (30)
August12, 2009 - Easter Seals of Arkansas, LR (30)

This workshop is intended for high school special education teachers, paraprofessionals and special education administrators. The workshop is designed to assist staff in instruction linked to the Arkansas Biology framework and offer ideas for activities for the 10th grade biology alternate assessment portfolio. The format for this workshop is cooperative learning and demonstration. Participants will receive the new “Resources for Science Instruction for Special Education Teacher’s: High School Ideas for Curriculum and the Alternate Assessment”, Harrill, S., LeBlanc, S., & Ayres, B. (2009). The authors have linked ideas to the Arkansas Biology framework areas of Molecules and Cells, Heredity and Evolution, Classification and the Diversity of Life, and Ecology and Behavioral Relationships. Seating is limited to the number listed by each site. There is a $130 per person fee with registration handled through the Easter Seals Arkansas TCC.

The workshop is six (6) hours long from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Certificates will be given at the end of the session.
