Pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. § 25-15-201 et seq., notice is hereby given that the Arkansas State Board of Education (ASBE) and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) are considering additions to the Rules Governing Standards for Accreditation of Arkansas Public Schools and School Districts.

The proposed addition will require that Arkansas High Schools teach a minimum of one-half (1/2) unit of Economics and that one-half (1/2) unit of Economics be required for graduation from Arkansas High Schools.

Public hearings will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009, in the Auditorium of the Arkansas Department of Education at Four Capitol Mall, Little Rock, AR 72201 at 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
