Reach for the Stars, sponsored by the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators (AAAE), Arkansas Department of Education (ADE)and the Pygmalion Commission, will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center on July 12-14, 2009. This year’s conference will feature statewide programs sharing successful endeavors in developing and redefining alternative opportunities. Nationally recognized author and televised expert Ron Glodowski will be a keynote speaker. He will be available for book signing, autographs and an individual workshop. Sanford Tollette recently presented at Harvard and will be back as the opening keynote speaker.
Dr. Ken James, representatives, and senators will be invited to participate in this opportunity to address the alternative educators in Arkansas. MidContinent Comprehensive Center (MC3) Director and Assistant Vice President of Oklahoma University, Dr. Belinda Biscoe, will be sharing Arkansas statistical data collected over the past few years in Arkansas Learning Enviroments (ALE). Lori Lamb, ALE Director and National Alternative Education Association (NAEA) President; Jacque Reese AAAE President; Pygmalion Commissioners, NAEA board members and other dignitaries will be present and available for support. School District personnel that work with ALE in providing coding and other support are encouraged to register for the Tuesday sessions.
