The Office of Coordinated School Health within the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is pleased to announce the 2009 School Health Conference, “Building for Success: Laying the Foundation.” The conference will be held July 15th – 16th, 2009, at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The focus of the conference is to provide information and resources for parents, educators, health care professionals, and community members to assist with the education of the whole child. Participants will be provided a vast array of resources and tools that are available in Arkansas to help improve the health and academics of Arkansas students.
Among the keynote speakers are Arkansas Governor, Mike Beebe; Arkansas Surgeon General, Dr. Joe Thompson; Education Commissioner, Dr. Ken James; Director of Health Department, Dr. Paul Halverson; Director of Human Services, Mr. John Selig; CEO of Early Childhood and Family Learning Foundation in New Orleans, LA., Dr. Pat Cooper; and Superintendent of West Grand School District in Wise County, Virginia, Dr. Jeff Perry.
The registration fee is $110.00 for the two-day conference. This fee includes breakfast, lunch and breaks for both days. The deadline for early registrations is Tuesday, June 2, 2009. The Peabody of Little Rock is the conference designated hotel and has agreed to offer participants the government rate of $88.00 per night.
