Child Nutrition Directors should mark Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5, 2009, on the calendar and register for the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Child Nutrition Unit (CNU) CN Directorsí Conference. The Conference will be held at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, 2 Riverfront Place, North Little Rock. Hotel information is provided below and a registration form is attached.

PLEASE SEND ONE REGISTRATION FORM FOR EACH PERSON PLANNING TO ATTEND to the Little Rock Convention Bureau, Child Nutrition Directorsí Conference, P.O. Box 207, Little Rock, AR 72203.

Registration for the Directorsí Conference will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Foyer A near the Silver City Meeting Rooms. This meeting will be two full days. A continental breakfast will be provided during registration. The Conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Silver City Meeting Rooms.

Program content will include presentation on United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service Program, Updates to Federal Food Code, Federal Procurement Regulations, Ethics, Act 1599, New Facility Food Safety Plans, Updates on the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP) Grants, Arkansas Team Nutrition Training Grant Activities for 2009-2010, and the new Commodity Ordering Process, etc.


The New Directorsí Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This training is for first-year directors, superintendents, and independent managers.

The ADE Child Nutrition Unit will provide training and orientation for the Agreement and Policy Statement, collection procedures, meal patterns for menus, record keeping requirements, procurement, children with special needs, parent / student involvement, and available resources.

Registration for New Directorsí Orientation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2009. The orientation packet will be available at the table located in Arkansas Travelers meeting room. A continental breakfast will be provided.

Please mail the registration form(s) and fee(s), made payable to ADE Child Nutrition Unit, BY JUNE 30, 2009, to:

A confirmation of registration for each participant registered will be mailed to the school district address as provided on the registration form. It is the districtís responsibility to notify each participant that the registration has been confirmed.

Wyndham Riverfront Hotel accommodations must be made BY JULY 13, 2009. To reserve rooms at special rates, call Wyndham Hotel reservations toll free at 1-866-657-4458 or call the hotel directly at 501-371-9000. Be sure to request the ADE Child Nutrition rates of $88.00 per night for a single room. Add $10.00 for each additional person sharing a room. Hotel policy does not allow more than four persons to a room. There will be an additional $15.00 per day charge if a rollaway bed is requested. The above rates will not be applicable after July 13, 2009. Reservations should be made as soon as participants are approved to attend the meetings.
