On behalf of the Professional Licensure Standards Board (PLSB), the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) will be distributing copies of the training DVD, Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators. School districts will receive a copy for the districtís central office and one for each school within the district.
Act 846 of 2007 established the PLSB and required the development of the rules governing the code of ethics. The rules, which were adopted by the State Board of Education, in July 2008, mandated the development of the standards of professional conduct for licensed Arkansas educators.
The DVD was developed in an effort to inform and train as many educators as possible on the code of ethics. This 20-minute DVD also serves as a companion product to the PowerPoint presentation on the code of ethics, which is currently posted on the Arkansas Department of Educationís Website. The address is http://arkansased.org/standards_board/ppt/code_080108.ppt. Presenters have the option of either utilizing the DVD or the DVD and the PowerPoint in training sessions.
Distribution plans call for copies of the DVD to be distributed to all public, private and charter schools, as well as colleges and universities, education service cooperatives, and to a host of other education-focused groups and agencies.
