In order to keep Arkansas applicants informed of the changes that may affect the E-Rate program application process, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Department of Information Systems (DIS), and State Library will be offering an in-depth E-Rate training for public school districts, charter and private schools. Sessions will be designed for beginners as well as advance E-Rate applicants.

E-Rate training has been scheduled for the following dates:

E-Rate Lab: Online Filing of FCC Application Form 470:
August 11-12; Location - ADE Ranch – 6020 Ranch Drive, Suite C-8 (Little Rock)
This is a hands-on lab to assist districts in filing Form 470 request for services online.

E-Rate Training sessions for beginners (0-3 years) are two days:
Session 1: October 6-7, 2009, Tuesday and Wednesday
Session 2: October 27-28, 2009, Tuesday and Wednesday
Topics of interest will include: 2010 Eligible Services List, Understanding E-Rate Rules, Compliance Issues, E-Rate Application Process, and Common Applicant Mistakes.

CIV E-Rate Advanced (4+ years):
November 10, 2009, Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Topics of interest will include: Filing Forms 486, 500 Bear, RNL, Document Retention, Audits and Internal Connections. (VOIP, Webhosting etc…..)

E-Rate Lab: Online Filing of FCC Application Form 471
December 1-3; Location - ADE Ranch – 6020 Ranch Drive, Suite C-8 (Little Rock)
This is a hands-on lab to assist districts in filing Form 471 request for discounts online when the window opens.

E-Rate training sessions will be held at the Metropolitan Tech Center, 7701 Scott Hamilton in Little Rock. Sign-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. and training will start at 8:30 – 3:30 p.m. each day. Please bring your laptops, CAT5 cable for internet connection, and storage peripherals for personal use. Make sure to have version 9 Adobe Reader installed on your laptops.

When you register online, you will receive an immediate confirmation assuring that your registration was received. (NOTE: To register for the CIV session please contact the local education service cooperative.)

Seating is limited, so please register as soon as possible for the events. It is strongly recommended that each public school district, charter or private school send a technology coordinator and/or E-Rate representative to the training workshops. Registration closes for all sessions seven days prior to the session.
