Liberty Day is a non-profit, non-partisan volunteer effort to educate Americans about the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.
Available from Liberty Day are copies of the Liberty Day Pocket Constitution booklet, including a set of 24 flash cards with study questions and answers relating to facts taken directly from the text of the United States Constitution, a teacher’s guide with a step-by-step lesson plan to teach the 24 study questions, a teacher’s evaluation form with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Liberty Day, and a multiple choice pre-and post-test to assess student learning.
The materials are designed for students in grades 5 - 6, and may be used on September 17, 2009, which is designated as Constitution Day by federal law. The cost is $1.00 per student, plus shipping. As a statewide service project, the Lions Clubs of Arkansas is collaborating with the Liberty Day program to offer financial support towards purchase of the booklets. School districts interested in the materials may contact a local Lions Clubs for more information.
