The Arkansas Tobacco Settlement Commission in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Office of Coordinated School Health, and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, is offering a grant to address the childhood obesity crisis in the state. The Arkansas Child Wellness Intervention Project Grant (CWIP) will provide eligible schools with the SPARK physical education curriculum, equipment, Fitnessgram software, HealthTeacher.com and all teacher trainings. The grants are due in by 4:30 p.m. on November 20, 2009. There will be a question and answer information session on October 14, 2009, in Little Rock at the Arkansas Real Estate Commission Office, 612 South Summit Street from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Notification of awards will be in January with implementation of programs scheduled to begin in the fall of 2010.
