All school districts, educational co-ops, open-enrollment charter schools, and state-operated educational programs are reminded of the importance of the upcoming Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) Cycle 4 data submission requirements for special education child count and special education personnel. APSCN Cycle 4 closes on December 15, 2009. The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit must report the data to the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE), Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) by February 1, 2010. To assist special education programs in reporting the December 1 child count and personnel data accurately, a series of Web teleconferences, as outlined below, will be held. To register for a Web teleconference, go to http://www.arswis.info.
• November 17, 18, and 20, 2009: School Age Programs (school districts, open enrollment charter schools, and state agencies submitting data via APSCN)
• November 11, 2009: DDS Early Childhood (3-5 DDTCS programs submitting data via MySped Resource)
• November 19 and 24, 2009: Early Childhood Programs (educational co-ops, school districts, and state agencies submitting via APSCN)
In addition, to ensure the highest accuracy in data reporting to OSEP, the Special Education Unit provides districts an opportunity to review the December 1, 2009, child count and personnel data collected. Beginning January 4, 2010, local education agencies can review and modify the Special Education child count and personnel data through MySped Resource on the Special Education Website at http://arksped.k12.ar.us. Review period in MySped Resource will close January 15, 2010.
