The Arkansas Department of Education Office of Coordinated School Health is offering a “Healthy School Board Diamond Award.” The Healthy School Board Diamond Award is a way to recognize Arkansas schools with policies and educational programs in place that promote an environment that creates healthy students and healthy learners. Applications require a team effort with administration and school staff and must be submitted by the district school with participation of the local school board. The deadline for submitting the application is February 26, 2010.
Applying for this award will be an opportunity for the district to receive recognition for the commitment made in addressing the health needs of students and staff. The application will also serve as a valuable assessment tool to evaluate policies and standards in place and to see where modifications need to be made. For more information and to download a copy of the application go to the website http://www.arkansascsh.org and click on the Apply it in Your School tab at the top.
