The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is now accepting applications for teachers interested in spending the 2010-2011 school year teaching English to students in Taiwan. Up to ten teachers will be selected to participate next year in the Teaching in Taiwan program, which is offered in partnership with the government of Taiwan.
Teachers selected to teach in Taiwan will sign an 11-month contract, which runs from August to July. The first month is spent in cultural training. Teaching assignments for the rest of the year vary according to the school, but involve teaching English to students and to teachers.
To be eligible to apply, teachers must have a current Arkansas teaching license; a master’s degree is preferred but not required.
Applications and answers to frequently asked questions are available on the ADE Web site at http://arkansased.org/teachers/taiwan.html
Applications must be returned to Beverly Williams, Assistant Commissioner for Human Resources/Licensure, Arkansas Department of Education, # 4 Capitol Mall, Room 204-B, Little Rock, AR 72201 by noon on March 22, 2010. Interviews will be scheduled for April and selections will be made in late April or early May.
