Section 1120 of Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), requires each Local Education Agency (LEA) to provide eligible children attending private elementary and secondary schools, their teachers, and their families with services from Title I and other eligible federal programs.
In partnership with the Office of Catholic Schools, Diocese of Little Rock, the Arkansas Non-Public School Accrediting Association (ANSAA) and the Arkansas Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Education Office of Non-Public Schools will be conducting a presentation on Equitable Participation of Private School Students and Teachers in Federal Education Programs at Catholic High School for Boys Auditorium between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
The presentation will include information on how to develop and implement the applicable federal programs for eligible private school students as related to LEA and Private School consultation, public school attendance areas, equipment, equitable participation of private school students and student participation in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
