The Teacher Leadership Exploratory Consortium, representing an array of education organizations, state education agencies, teacher leaders, principal leaders and institutions of higher education, has released for comment a draft of “Model Teacher Leader Standards”. The purpose of these model standards is to stimulate dialogue among teaching profession stakeholders about the knowledge, skills and competencies that a teacher should demonstrate to assume a leadership role (e.g., an Instructional Facilitator) in schools, districts, and the profession. The Consortium is inviting comments on the proposed standards to be submitted by April 15, 2010.
