The Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation is now accepting applications for the second round of the School Bus Safety Equipment Pilot Program.

Act 1207 of 2009 amended Ark. Code Title 6, Chapter 19, Subchapter 1 by establishing a School Bus Safety Equipment Pilot Program. The first round of applications resulted in 26 school districts receiving a total of $54,922.00 in cameras and electronic signs. The Division is opening a second application period for applications to be received totaling $51,000.00 state wide.

The grant of equipment will be either a video recording device or electronic warning device which will be provided to school districts, based on a competitive grant application, for installation on buses operating on high incident routes, as defined by law.
