The Arkansas State Parent Involvement Resource Center (PIRC) in coordination with the Arkansas Department of Education’s Title I office is hosting two parental involvement workshops at the Crowley’s Ridge Education Service Cooperative in Harrisburg.
The first workshop is from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, and will train parent coordinators and parent facilitators from Title I schools in the newest modules of the Strengthening the Partnership series. Topics covered at the workshop include: Helping Parents Understand School Report Cards; No Child Left Behind: What Parents Need to Know About School Accountability, Public School Choice and Supplemental Education Services; and Making the Most of Parent Teacher Conferences: Tips for Parents.
The second workshop is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010. This Parent Leadership Development workshop will train parent coordinators, parent facilitators, and volunteer parents from Title I schools in preparing parents to take a more active leadership role in their children’s schools. The six modules of training include: Parental Involvement, Leadership, Communication, Decision Making, Supporting Your School, and Action Plans.
Training materials for these modules will be provided.
The deadline for registration for both workshops is June 18, 2010. Registration information and forms for each session are attached. Please register in advance, as space and materials are limited.
