The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Accountability Workbook (Workbook) used for determining Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) includes a definition for New School that was approved by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE). The definition of New School can be found in the Workbook located on the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Web site under No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
Schools eligible for a New School designation should complete the attached Re-Configured Schools form and e-mail a copy to Ashan R. Hampton in Academic Accountability at email@example.com or fax to 501-682-7966 by Tuesday, June 22, 2010.
Schools are reminded that the New School definition can be applied only once in any three-year period. Furthermore, the Re-Configured Schools form will serve as a school's intent to be “held harmless” for the immediate year of the re-configuration. If a particular school “meets standards,” then that school would receive the higher AYP designation rather than the “hold harmless” designation.
Schools are eligible to submit the attached form and request a Hold Harmless for the 2010 AYP Report if the school reconfiguration was in effect for the 2009-2010 school year (Effective date 7/1/2009). Hold Harmless cannot be applied for reconfigurations effective July 1, 2010 for the 2010-11 school year.
